IS THERE A MINIMUM QUANTITY FOR EACH ORDER?

Yes, there is a 25 tile minimum order, which is equivalent to 25 square meters.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY SHIPMENT?

There is typically a 4 week lead time on orders. Depending on the quantity, newly processed orders are sent to the factory for immediate production. This way, you know your product is brand new and hot off the production line.

WHERE ARE THESE CARPET TILES MANUFACTURED?

The proprietary manufacturer of the FreePattern Carpet Tile design line is Joy Carpets Inc, based out of Tennessee, USA. They have been operating many decades and primarily produce broad loom rugs in-house. Their line of carpet tiles are produced through contract using the production machinery at the Milliken plant in Georgia, USA. Therefore, the quality of product and standards of production are as elite as other carpet tile products manufactured at the plant.

WHAT ARE THESE CARPET TILES MADE OF?

The yarn fiber is called Antron 6,6. The tile construction is made up of cusions and moisture barriers that prolong the product's usefulness and life. For more information, please see the Product Information page.

HOW DO THESE CARPET TILES PERFORM UNDER HEAVY FOOT TRAFFIC?

Manufactured for heavy traffic, the carpet squares are commercial-grade and designed for long-lasting performance under the most rigorous foot traffic conditions.

ARE THEY EASY TO CLEAN?

Yes, the yarn fibers are made out of a material that cleans up easily. In most circumstances, messes can be cleaned up with just warm water. Depending on the circumstance, scrubbing with warm soapy water will restore the carpet tile. Because they are not glued down, it is also possible to remove affected tiles to hose them outdoors.

WHAT IS THE METHOD OF SHIPMENT?

Orders typically require a freight delivery service whereby the carpet tiles are delivered on a plastic-wrapped pallet. In these cases a hand-operated fork lift transports the pallet from the truck to the customer. Sometimes a truck with a lift gate is required. The factory conveniently organizes all domestic shipment logistics, whether for residential or commercial delivery.

DO THE CARPET TILES SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?

Yes, this flooring product has been shipped internationally. Many orders have been placed for delivery to Canada. In these circumstances, a customs broker is required and it is generally the responsibility of the customer to choose a broker. The broker's contact information is forwarded to us so we can organize shipment with the freight company.

DO THE CARPET TILES LEAVE A RESIDUE ON THE FLOOR IF I PULL THEM UP?

These carpet tiles are designed as a finished flooring product to be assembled directly on a concrete or plywood subfloor. There has been an occasion in the past in which a customer assembled the carpet tiles as an area rug on a nicely finished hardwood floor and they left a tacky residue. To clean this, a mixture of water and white vinegar is effective. It takes a fair amount of scrubbing and time, but the residue will clean away completely. For this reason, these carpet tiles are intended to be assembled wall to wall on an unfinished subfloor like concrete or plywood.

IS THERE A VISIBLE SEAM BETWEEN THE TILES?

Not when they are installed correctly. For a proper, visually-seamless installation, just lay the carpet tiles next to each other with no gap between them. Just make sure the corners are lined up with each other so they are not staggered. There is no tape or glue needed, just a nice and snug fit. This way, the geometric designs on the carpet tiles are uninterrupted from tile to tile, allowing for beautiful designs to be created.

HOW MANY DIFFERENT PATTERNS CAN BE CREATED WITH ONE TILE?

There is a large number of different patterns that can be created, depending on the number of tiles in the group and each tile's rotation. If two tiles are grouped together, and the group of two is repeated, then there are 8 different patterns: (4^2 / 2). If four tiles are grouped together, and the group of four is repeated, then there are 64 different patterns: (4^4 / 4). In our explorations with patterns, we've found that some patterns look very similar to others because only one tile in the group has been rotated differently from another pattern's group. Therefore, we've determined what we feel are the 6 best patterns that can be created with each of the three carpet tile styles. You can see an animation of the patterns being created and changing at each of the product pages. Here is Cocoon, Ivory + Taupe as an example, just scroll to the animation just below the Determine Quantity Chart.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE DESIGN AFTER INSTALLATION?

Easily. Since no tape or glue is required, all you need to do is locate a corner and gently pull up on the yarn. As the corner lifts, use your fingers to get a better grip. Because each tile is square, it will simply fit in place in the same square space where it was after you rotate it. The tacky back of each tile does not lose effectiveness over time, so it's ok to lift and rotate the tiles as frequently as desired.

WHY ISN'T TAPE OR GLUE REQUIRED TO INSTALL THESE CARPET TILES?

Since they are manufactured with a high-friction tacky back called StayTac, the cusion itself includes the method of installation. This is an environmentally-friendly approach that makes it so no special equipment or complicated skills are required. Visit the Installation page for information about cutting tiles and other considerations.

HOW DO I DETERMINE THE QUANTITY OF TILES I NEED?

Many USA customers are unfamiliar with exactly how large a meter is, and how it relates to our standard units. A meter is slightly bigger than a yard; so where a square yard is 3' x 3', a square meter is 3'-3" x 3'-3". And whereas there are 9 square feet in a square yard, there are 10.76 square feet in a square meter. We simplifly the calculation by just using 10 square feet in a square meter since typically it's better to have a little bit extra just in case there is material cut away when creating a wall to wall assembly. Each product page on this website has a size chart that shows how much area various quantities will cover. To get an exact number, just measure the length and width in feet, then multiply those numbers to get the square footage. Finally, divide that number by 10 to get the square meters. Since each tile is one square meter, that's the number of tiles you need. For example, if the room is 18'-6" x 15'-3", multiply 18.5 x 15.25 to get 282.125. Then divide by 10 to get 28.2125, and round it to 28. Therefore, 28 carpet tiles are needed.

WILL THE CARPET COLOR FADE OR WEAR OVER TIME?

These carpet tiles have excellent warranties specifically to address this issue. They are manufactured with optimal quality and craftsmanship to avoid such issues, and they are designed for heavy foot traffic.

THESE CARPET TILES ARE SO INGENIOUS, WHY HAVE I NOT SEEN THEM AROUND MORE?

Sometimes an unusual product has a tough time in the marketplace. When people don't recognize it or understand it they tend to shy away from it. Most of the customers who have purchased these tiles have done so for their home or office, so they aren't in the public eye so much. As more people discover these carpet tiles online, buy them, and/or share their experiences with them with others or on social media, we expect these carpet tiles will start wow'ing people more frequently. The basic fact that many different designs and patterns can be created with only one tile is an innovation that leaves people scratching their heads... especially since the concept is actually quite simple.
